300

Watched 300 just now and what a mistake.

300 is a recent film adaptation of the graphic novel 300 by Frank Miller, itself partly inspired by another film, The 300 Spartans, and is a semi-historical account of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. The film is directed by Zack Snyder with Frank Miller attached as an executive producer and consultant, and was shot mostly with bluescreen to duplicate the imagery of the original comic book.

Spartan King Leonidas (no, not the chocolate guy!) (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fight to the last man against queeny Persian King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and his army of more than one million soldiers, while in Sparta, Queen Gorgo (Lena Headey) attempts to rally support for her husband.

Well, if you like an orgy of blood, killings and chopped off heads and limbs, you may like this movie. The story is extremely thin and is glorifying "real" manhood and war and destruction.

Even the guys are not cute. Yes, I can see that they all went to the gym but the results are very, very disappointing.

Worse, the film is quite racist. The "Asian hordes" are shown as being stupid and lacking culture, whereas the Greeks are all noble, freedom loving men. George W. Bush can be happy with this movie.

Its a mindless flick. Just a story with a lot of artistic license. Shouldn't fall into the iranian trap by looking any deeper into this superficial story.. :)

Besides, you have to admit the guys ARE cute!
