South Lake Tahoe, California

This is such a beautiful place! We took an easy day today just driving some 3 1/2 hours in the morning. Approaching Reno the traffic got much busier. For those of you that don't know Lake Tahoe, it can be compared to the beauty of Geiranger Fjord in Norway, or the Queenstown area in New Zealand. After lunch (it is possible to get decent food again here in California after all the greasy junk in Middle-America) we went to see Emerald Bay and had a few short hikes in the area. As Lake Tahoe is on the border of California and Nevada we will cross back into Nevada tonight to visit a casino and eat there. (casinos are known to serve cheap, good food)

Just watched the news on CNN (American edition) and all they talk about is 1) some guy who uttered some racist remarks and now is vilified by the entire nation; 2) some guy who is the father of Anne-Nicole Smith' child (DNA proof); and 3) new data show there are 6 million Americans who are more than 100 pouns (45 kilos) overweight. As if there is no Iraq war, global warming and Singapore government pay robbery.

And the best news today is that both DA and I were asked if we are 21 in a casino in Winnemucca this morning! Well, the lady who asked was 70 and had thick glasses, but I was very happy all of today anyway.
