Dutch Finance Minister Wouter Bos (picture) presented the 2008 government budget to Parliament in The Hague today. The plans are rather unspectacular: we have a left wing government so relatively rich people like me will pay more taxes, and the money will be used to help poorer people and neighbourhoods. This page has the major budget measures for 2008, including: EUR 2.5 million for emancipation of homosexuals and addressing violence.
As every year on the third Tuesday in September, the Queen was driven around in the Golden Carriage before she bowed to the flag and delivered the Budget Speech in Parliament.
