Dutch Transport Minister Camiel Eurlings decided today that cyclists may continue listening to music while cycling. According to Mr. Eurlings, the dangers to traffic safety are negligible and enforcing such a ban could only be achieved by deploying extensive police surveillance. Having seen on a daily basis how listening to music and talking on phones by cyclists is jeopardizing their own and others' safety, and still being in pain from my own cycling accident, I disagree with the Minister.
