I watched The Next Best Thing, a year 2000 movie starring Madonna, tonight. A comedy-drama about best friends - one a straight woman, Abbie (Madonna), the other a gay man, Robert (Rupert Everett) - who on a drunken night have sex and have a child together. Five years later, Abbie falls in love with a straight man Ben (Benjamin Bratt) and wants to move away with her and Robert's little boy Sam, and a nasty custody battle ensues.

A so-so movie. Some people will hate me for this, but I don't think Madonna is such a great actress. The plot is predictable but still manages to get the tears out. Rupert Everett has a great body, but the star of this movie is Benjamin Bratt who is so cute. He alone is reason enough to watch this film.
